This time last week I shared that the total raised through the two charity walks I’ve recently taken place in with Mandy was a staggering £2,641.75. Guess I was a bit premature in using the staggering word, as it’s now just hit a really staggering £3,690.95!!!
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us on our recent treks. Both are complete now, and thus far we have raised a staggering £2,641.75 for the two charities we are supporting! Wow… just wow…
Some brief words about the walks below – but they say a picture paints a thousand words, so I mounted a GoPro to my rucksack and took time lapse photos along the way for both walks – links below if you’d like to see more!
The South Downs Trekathon on 16th May started at the finish point of Beachy Head at 6am, where we got a coach back to the start point in Lewes.
The visibility at Beachy Head was dreadful – probably only about 20m! Thankfully by the time we set off in Lewes at 7.30am though, the sun was starting to break through and it turned into a perfect day for the walk.
Trekfest in the Brecon Beacons was on Saturday 6th June. Again the weather was a little iffy to begin with, but 10 minutes before the start the skies cleared and we were left with glorious sunshine for the whole day, even on top of Pen y Fan!
This was a circular route advertised at 29 miles, which actually turned out to be closer to 31 according to my GPS tracker (and no we didn’t get lost!!)
We completed this walk in 13 hours, with just over 10 hours of walking time and lots of climing! You can again see the full GPS track on Sports Tracker.
So in total…
57 miles
19 hours walking
3,537m of ascent
Lots of blisters!
But most importantly – £2,641.75 raised for two great charities
Again, huge thanks to everyone who has supported Mandy or I. Our JustGiving page is still open if you would still like to donate.
